The OIP is aimed at developing future generations of public service professionals in the Ontario Public Service by hiring graduates for a two-year internship in a variety of business areas. The experience and skills you gain and the personal contacts you make as an OIP intern can open the door to a fulfilling, successful career in the Ontario Public Service. Our record speaks for itself: on average, 75 per cent of interns are successful in obtaining ongoing employment in the OPS.

The OIP offers a structured learning curriculum for each focus area. The curriculum has been designed with the advice and expertise of learning and development professionals, managers, and subject matter experts in each focus area. In addition to the curriculum, interns work with their placement managers to develop a personalized learning plan, outlining the intern’s learning and development goals for the assignment. Learning and development is further enhanced through opportunities to work with personal mentors who offer coaching and guidance.
