The Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights seeks interns and volunteers to assist in all aspects of project administration and substance. Substantive work includes researching specific violations of human rights; investigating regional or thematic human rights issues; monitoring the Internet for relevant information; and drafting memoranda and correspondence. Administrative tasks include photocopying; filing; data entry; answering telephones; faxing and other electronic correspondence; and assisting in mass mailings. Possible areas of concentration include work on refugee issues and the concerns associated with asylum.  Although Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights is unable to pay its interns and volunteers, Minnesota Advocates readily accepts those individuals taking part in remunerative or academic programs.
