HALT, the nation's largest and oldest legal reform organization, is dedicated to the principle that all Americans should be able to handle their legal affairs simply, affordably and equitably. Supported by over 50,000 members, HALT pursues an aggressive education and advocacy program that challenges the legal establishment to improve America's civil justice system. HALT also provides basic legal information to consumers through a series of self-help handbooks and fact sheets. Interns work on a variety of projects: research and writing, media advocacy, public education and membership development. Please include references with your application.

HALT generally hires two to three interns during the fall and spring semesters and four interns for the summer. Full- and part-time internships are available. Interns work on all aspects of the organization's projects, including writing and research, education, legislation and advocacy efforts. Working closely with the program staff, each intern is responsible for one major research project during the semester, contributes at least one article to HALT's quarterly newsletter and has the opportunity to participate in its educational and advocacy projects.
